Botanical Garden Tour: Cranbrook House Courtyard Garden

A mix of traditional and new varieties of shade plants flank the gardens at the courtyard base of The Mountain (stairs on the south side of the courtyard). Old-fashion Annabelle Hydrangeas mixed with variegated Solomon Seal hug the wall. Chartreuse Hostas line the steps. In the spring several varieties of Brunnera bloom along with Trillium, Bergenia and Epimedium. Large Hostas and colorful annuals provide summer interest. Two new red Rodgersias anchor the far corners. Red and pink rose bushes and dark evergreens grow on the north and east sides of the courtyard. The pots provide a great display as well.
