Botanical Garden Tour: North Terrace Gardens

These gardens were redesigned in 2007 and changes continue to be made. This area drains very quickly making it a challenge to find the right plants. Complexly, one side is in full sun while the other side is shady. Miniature dark leaf Ninebarks flank the ends of the sunny garden, Sweet Autumn Clematis covers the back wall. Also along the back are blue Baptisia, Penstemon, Geraniums (perennial) Echinacea (Coneflower) Heuchera (Coral Bells) and Euphorbia. Annuals of different colors and shapes provide interest. On the shady side there is Rozanna Geranium, Boxwoods, Aruncus (Goatsbeard), Helleborus and Heuchera (Coral Bells). Shade annuals provide seasonal color. The colors tend to be purples, reds, blues, pinks and yellow.
