George Booth designed the shield crest at the top of the garden steps. The bees represent three generations of hardworking Booths.
At the base of the double stairway leading down to The Sunken Garden is a stone tank of Romanesque design carved with a frieze of human figures.
At the east end of The Sunken Garden are two Chinese stone lions and a small sheltered pool made from fragments of a fountain which once stood in this area.
