The Dining Room

This was the place where the Booths normally ate their meals. The table, which was designed by George Booth, has nine leaves and can comfortably seat 24 people. The chandeliers and the wall sconces in this room, as well as in most of the house, are the work of the Caldwell Company in New York. The Caldwell Company was responsible for adding the initial electrical lighting fixtures in the White House.

Over the fireplace mantle is the portrait of Henry Gough Booth, George Booth’s grandfather. He is responsible for bringing the family from Cranbrook, England to Canada in 1844.
